Reviews of Toxic Bankers Dominic Cavendish, Daily Telegraph: "An entertaining evening that treats its subject with wit and flair... O'Connor's score is redolent of rising and falling stock graphs with its rippling patterns... Above all, he and Taylor understand that emotion is the principal currency in musicals... they tap a potent sense of human paradises lost."
Claire Allfree, Metro: "A slick send up of corporate ruthlessness... the pert counter-harmonies of O'Connor's buoyant score... Taylor's well-drilled production is studded with assured performances... a shot of adrenaline for a neglected art form."
Ian Shuttleworth, Financial Times: "One cannot fault the ambition of Taylor’s script... nor of O’Connor’s songs, demonstrating instead an Ira Gershwinian lyrical facility."
Ben Walters, Time Out: "Imagine 'Little Shop of Horrors' with short selling instead of man-eating plants... a workplace comedy for the post-crash era... tightly realised and offers cleverly-drawn, well-acted characters... pulls off the balancing act of using their narcissistic concerns to illuminate a culture of displaced responsibility without getting mired in righteous finger-wagging."
Lauren Paxman, The Stage: "This hard-working cast shows off just how much work went into Toxic Bankers, and why it was worth the effort... Toxic Bankers surprises with the breadth of the topics it covers." |
